The Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptism washes away original sin and incorporates one into the body of Christ. It is received only once in one's lifetime; it is not a repeatable moment. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Baptisms at St. Brigid are celebrated on the first Saturday of the month in English, and on the second Saturday of the month in Spanish at 1:00pm. Parents are asked to call the rectory at (718) 821-1690 to make an appointment with a parish priest at least two months in advance. Please bring your child’s original birth certificate to the meeting. The Baptism Preparation Class for Parents and Godparents is held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00pm in in the church.
